About This Programme

Bachelor of Arts Communication (Journalism Option), the program encourages students to seek advanced degrees beyond the baccalaureate in a number of fields such as public policy, integrated marketing communication, health communication, law, business, education and other fields. In preparation of students as future professionals, this program strives to produce graduates who are career oriented and engaged with domestic and global affairs. To this end, the program seeks to provide students with learning opportunities that train them in contemporary media industry practices, promote greater understanding of global media and international affairs while fostering an awareness of global events that impact society, assists them in developing critical thinking skills, ethics, problem solving and self reliance throughout their academic program, and Immerses them in an educational environment that encourages development of communication skills in preparation for entry into the workforce.

English Language Requirement

Huston-Tillotson University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, evidence of English study within a 12 year education system where English is designated as the primary and official language and the principal language of instruction. For applicants who do not yet meet the English language requirement, there are two pathways to achieve the necessary level:

Pre sessional English Programme; Students may successfully complete a preparatory English programme offered by the university before beginning their academic course. Recognized English Proficiency Tests; Students may submit one of the following minimum scores prior to the start of their program: IELTS: 6.5 overall band score (or equivalent), TOEFL or PTE: Score of 60, Duolingo English Test: Score of 120.
