MTSU's Maintenance Management
concentration prepares students to become the leaders of the next generation of
aircraft professionals by developing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes
necessary for successful careers. This concentration offers preparation for
students wishing to enter the aviation maintenance field as maintenance
technicians or as entry-level managers at aircraft repair stations or other
types of operations involving aircraft manufacturing, maintenance, or
modification. Students learn about related components and materials, including
modern composites, and the proper repair and inspection of those materials. The
program stresses the fundamental skills needed in aircraft maintenance and
repair, together with management skills. MTSU is an approved Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) FAR Part 147 maintenance technician school for airframe
and power plant mechanics (A&P).
Career Path
While graduates' career
trajectory is likely to include management level positions in aviation
maintenance, examples of entry-level maintenance technician career options
include: Air carrier maintenance, Corporate aircraft operator maintenance, Technician
at aircraft manufacturer, Technician at aircraft repair stations.
