The School of Science offers a Master of Science in Applied Science, which is a professional degree with no thesis requirement that prepares graduates who have traditional discipline-oriented backgrounds to function more effectively in industrial, governmental, or other interdisciplinary occupations. Its intention is to help working professionals upgrade their technical expertise and cross boundaries among disciplines. The school of applied science concentration include analytical and environmental chemistry, applied groundwater science, biochemistry/biophysics, bioinformatics, chemistry and entrepreneurship, database management systems, microelectronics manufacturing, optimization and statistics, parallel and scientific computation, photonics, polymer science and engineering, and software engineering. In addition, further combinations of courses leading to the Master of Science in Applied Science are developed as additional needs for interdisciplinary education are identified.

English Language Requirement

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
