When you consider the means for an entire island to operate, the importance of a reliable and efficient supply chain becomes clear. In Canada, this sector is one of the most vital to the economy, employing more than 767,000 workers across diverse occupations and industries. Cape Breton University’s newly designed supply chain management courses introduce all aspects of the discipline from both theoretical and practical perspectives, highlighting the critical role of transportation and logistics in driving economic growth and organizational performance. Through the four‑year Bachelor of Business Administration program, students can now specialize in supply chain management, gaining the knowledge to manage materials, finances, and information as they move from manufacturer to end user. The program equips students with the foundations to understand today’s global economy, while also preparing them to identify and mitigate risks in global sourcing including hidden costs, geopolitical challenges, cultural differences, time zones, currency exchange, and exposure to financial and political risks in emerging economies.
