Students
majoring in English choose from an assortment of courses in analytical and
creative composition, literature of the United States and the world, and film
studies. Students are taught to examine texts from various perspectives in
order to understand cultural contexts and experiences, become aware of biases,
and appreciate diverse points of view. Within the richness of literature, we
learn to see the world through culturally diverse points of view and explore
social, political, and historical contexts. Studying the discipline of English
will give you excellent skills in reading, analysis, critical thinking, and
organized writing talents that will lead to success in any academic or career
path.
Career Path
A
major in English prepares students for careers in journalism, editing,
education, multimedia, communication, administration, public service,
advertising, broadcasting, and other fields requiring excellent critical
thinking, reading, and communication skills.
