Welcome to the Associate Degree Philosophy (Transfer 2+2)

Associate Degree Philosophy (Transfer 2+2) is intended for students who plan to complete a bachelor's degree in a similar major at a California State University after their progra and admission is guaranteed . Students will be able to critically engage with the world of ideas, both historical and contemporary, enabling them to interpret and understand their place in the world as citizens and active participants in the expression of human culture and values.
If you are Interest in studying philosophy begins with the desire to engage life’s greatest questions: finding the meaning of human existence, making sense of reality and our place in the cosmos, giving systematic form to our ethical and political intuitions, explaining the history of human ideas, and other equally significant problems.
You’ll also study ethics and learn about the connection between religion and philosophy, all while honing your critical-thinking skills. Courses also explore the influence of science on society, the problems with philosophy, and logical reasoning. 
The study of philosophy is excellent preparation for careers in law, journalism, politics, and university teaching. Study in philosophy does not focus on what to think, but on how to think. Such a skill is applicable in any context.

English Language Requirement

College of the Canyons will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.
If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
