Welcome to the Associate of Arts Degree (Studio Arts) - Transfer

The Studio Arts major provides students with a solid foundation in the practice of creating art. It is designed for students who wish to transfer to a four-year school as an Art Major. Students completing the Associate in Arts in Studio Arts for Transfer will be able to seamlessly transfer into the California State University system to pursue a baccalaureate degree in Art, Studio Arts. Students completing this degree will demonstrate the understanding, expertise and skill development necessary to transfer to the California State University system and pursue a bachelor’s degree in Art. The Studio Arts Program provides opportunities for students to learn about spatial concepts, color theory, media-specific terminology, technology, craftsmanship and an intellectual understanding of the creative process.  Describe the roles of creative expression in human cultures. Engage with the arts; integration of the arts into life. Demonstrate creative process; apply critical thinking in the creative process. Use the language of the discipline; demonstrate command of critical vocabulary. Use critical thinking in evaluating works of art in intrinsic terms, expressive content and social context.

Art majors go on to a wide variety of careers in which the visual education they have received is applied. Career opportunities include advertising art director, animator, architect, art administrator, art appraiser, art curator, art restorer, art therapist, art critic, art dealer, art historian, art instructor, cartoonist, ceramicist, cinematographer, computer artist, design consultant, , display designer, fashion designer, film artistic director, interior designer, gallery director, graphic artist, industrial designer, illustrator.

English Language Requirement

Cañada College will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
