The Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Nuclear Engineering (MANE) is home to three highly ranked, integrated programs offering students a world-class education. Mechanical research at RPI spans diverse areas including advanced design and manufacturing processes, dynamics and control systems, mechanics and materials, and thermal and fluids engineering. Faculty research aims to innovate in fields such as sustainable manufacturing, adaptive optics, materials under extreme conditions, and thermal management, contributing solutions that support advancements in technology and industry. The M.Eng. degree is perceived to be more practically oriented in comparison to the M.S. degree. Students in the M.Eng. The M.S. degree is perceived to be scholarly or fundamental and is well suited to students who wish to prepare for a professional career and also to measure their ability to pursue a Ph.D. without commitment of extra time beyond that required for an M.S. English Language Requirement

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
