About This Programme

Environmental Studies is a new interdisciplinary degree program designed to teach students, in the broadest sense, how humans influence the quality of their environment. A primary focus of this field of study is how to reduce the effects of human activities on our planet through development of sustainable lifestyles and resource stewardship practices. The required coursework teaches students concepts and skills from fields as diverse as ecology, environmental law, conservation biology, descriptive writing, environmental history, environmental literature, environmental sociology, chemistry, climate science and economics. This degree program is designed to provide an excellent foundation for postgraduate work, as well as for governmental and non governmental jobs that have a resource conservation or sustainability focus. You’ll learn from international experts and gain hands on experience to solve real world problems.

English Language Requirement

Huston-Tillotson University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, evidence of English study within a 12 year education system where English is designated as the primary and official language and the principal language of instruction. For applicants who do not yet meet the English language requirement, there are two pathways to achieve the necessary level:

Pre sessional English Programme; Students may successfully complete a preparatory English programme offered by the university before beginning their academic course. Recognized English Proficiency Tests; Students may submit one of the following minimum scores prior to the start of their program: IELTS: 6.5 overall band score (or equivalent), TOEFL or PTE: Score of 60, Duolingo English Test: Score of 120.
