The Associate degree in
Accounting prepares students for a variety of entry-level positions in the
accounting field and also provides a foundation for students who plan to
transfer to a four-year bachelor's degree program. Apply critical thinking and
analytical skills in decision making and problem solving. Accounting/Financial
Accounting: Understand and apply accounting principles to prepare financial
statements. Develop an understanding of the law and the legal environment as it
relates to business operations, including its ethical implications. Intro to
Business Information Systems: Identify the basics of information technology and
apply software applications to enhance efficiency of business functions. Create
effective oral and written business communications utilizing modern
communication technologies. Employing a foundational theory and practice model,
students in this program will rapidly gain knowledge of the overarching
principles of accounting while applying the skill achieved and demonstrating
the abilities of an entry-level accountant.
Career Path
An AS degree in accounting
provides opportunities for positions as an Accounting Clerk, Staff Accountant,
or Human Resources Assistant, Entry-level bookkeeper Accounts payable clerk
Accounts receivable clerk Payroll clerk Accounting assistant.
