The selection of a graduate program and degree is based on student interest, the area of graduate concentration, and the satisfaction of prerequisites. Rensselaer's transportation contributes to the fight against climate change by conducting research on how to plan and operate transportation systems in a more efficient manner. The transportation department also works on planning, design, analysis, maintenance, and operation of transportation systems and facilities; applications of data science to transportation operations and planning, user behavior, freight transportation management, planning, and modeling; sustainable freight policy; disaster response logistics; multi-modal transportation systems and micro-mobility in the context of passenger travel and freight and service delivery; intelligent transportation systems, freight transportation systems, connected vehicle systems, and transit systems; real-time, multi-objective network management and control, including route guidance, scheduling, parking management, signal control, and dynamic traffic assignment.

English Language Requirement

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
