Bachelor of Arts - Policy Studies

Discover how to make social change happen through the exciting field of public policy! With a focus on critical sustainability issues - from the climate emergency to decolonization and racial justice - the Policy Studies program at KPU equips you with the knowledge, insights and skills to make a difference in your community and beyond. During your studies, applied seminars, a Practicum, and CityLab courses provide real-world situations for you to develop applied skills. You will work with sustainability practitioners on community-based projects. At the same time, you will learn about sustainability from the perspective of environmental studies, philosophy, political science, psychology, public policy, and law, leading to a strong and integrated skill set for graduates. Successful Policy Studies students are looking for a program of study that challenges them to address critical sustainability issues, such as affordable housing, racial justice, sustainable urbanization, the biodiversity crisis and the climate emergency.

Career path

A career in public policy and sustainability includes work as a policy analyst, researcher, advisor, consultant, policy writer, program coordinator, lobbyist, communications &/or social media coordinator, program director, project manager or entrepreneur.  Public policy and sustainability experts work in local government, post-secondary administration, the private sector, market research firms and consulting firms.

English Language Requirement

Kwantlen Polytechnic University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
