Welcome to the Associate in Science Degree (Water Systems Technology)

Water Systems Technology is the study of water treatment processes, distribution processes, and wastewater processes. The program is designed to prepare students seeking a career in drinking water treatment and distribution or wastewater. The Water Systems Technology program also provides instruction for water and wastewater industry personnel interested in career advancement as well as continuing education opportunities for State certified Water Treatment and Water Distribution Operators for certification renewal.
The Water System Technology program emphasizes a real world approach to diagnostic skill building and a thorough understanding of system theory and operations. Professionalism, workplace skills and responsibilities are stressed along with safety and an awareness of hazardous materials control. 
Upon completion of the program, students will acquire skills and knowledge in water treatment concepts, wastewater treatment concepts, chemical dosage techniques, water distribution, water chemistry, water quality, water mathematical calculations and other skills needed throughout this vital industry.
Career Path
The students completing the program can become employed as a distribution operator, water treatment plant operator, water service representative, water quality specialist, wastewater collection worker and/or wastewater treatment operator.

English Language Requirement

College of the Canyons will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.
If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
