What you'll learn; How historical ideas and events have shaped the creation and development of the U.S. criminal justice system. Why criminal laws exist and how they are created. Why crime exists and what drives crime trends and rates at the individual, community, and societal levels. How crimes are investigated and prosecuted. What happens to a person who is accused of a crime. How and why the U.S. punishes crime. How the U.S. criminal justice system is viewed by various segments of the population. Why U.S. laws and correctional policies are often ineffective. How to find and interpret criminal laws, crime statistics, and other related information. How the U.S. Constitution protects individual liberty and limits criminal justice institutions. The Criminal Justice AAS is designed to prepare you for whatever your next step may be, whether that’s entering the workforce or continuing your education. Lane Community College graduates can be found throughout the state and at all levels of leadership and responsibility working in law enforcement and public safety, adult and juvenile corrections, courts administration, public and private legal services, social services, and private security.

English Language Requirement

Lane Community College will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
