Welcome to the Associate of Arts Degree (Restaurant Management)

The restaurant management AS degree prepares you for employment as manager of a restaurant, café, coffee shop, cafeteria or lunchroom, bar, or similar establishments. Or you may pursue a career as a food and beverage manager, dining room supervisor, fast food service manager, or catering professional. This program also provides supplemental training for those already working in these areas.
Coursework includes the management of selling, preparing, storing, promoting, displaying, serving food, and providing customer service. The  provide a solid foundation for management careers in fine dining establishments, catering operations, and other areas of the foodservice profession.
You also learn about dining room operations, beverage service, basic food preparation, nutrition, food cost control and large quantity preparation. You may also take classes in psychology, computer applications, math and writing
Career Path
This program provides students with the skills necessary for employment as a manager of a hotel/motel, a restaurant, a cafe, a bar, a liquor establishment, a coffee shop, a catering agency or a fast food service.

English Language Requirement

College of the Canyons will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.
If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
