Welcome to the Associate of Science Degree - Technical (Apparel Industry Oriented)

The fashion department gives students a thorough introduction to apparel design and manufacturing. Students are prepared to find employment in an apparel design firm or to start their own business. They will develop essential skills and techniques in sketching, fabric selection, sewing, draping, and pattern making. The fashion industry is vast and diverse with many creative, rewarding opportunities in ready-to-wear or high fashion design. An AS degree and certificate program are offered. Communicate design concepts clearly and concisely (i.e. visual, oral, and written). Develop competitive industry standard skills in the respective fields. Understand the elements and principles of design through discipline-specific implementation. Through a blend of theory and hands-on practice, students develop skills in sketching, fabric selection, sewing, draping, and pattern making.

Career Path

Graduates of the AS degree program in Technical Apparel Industry Oriented are well-prepared for a variety of careers in the fashion industry, including: Apparel designers, Fashion merchandisers, Pattern makers, Sewing machine operators, Tailors, Small business owners.

English Language Requirement

Cañada College will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
