Welcome to the BA (Hons) Political Science

Our politics degree will give you the tools to think critically about how power is exercised, how political decisions are made, and who makes these decisions, while developing your knowledge and practical skills. On the BA Politics degree you will learn about campaigns, elections, protest movements, policy issues and political ideals. You will explore different political arguments, rival theories, and alternative explanations. You will develop your skills in analytical and critical enquiry, debate, independent study and research, and self-motivation. 
Studying for a politics degree will help you to understand and think critically about political events, the interplay of domestic and international politics, how resources and power are distributed in society; how decisions are made; and why political systems develop in the ways that they do.  You’ll study the historic moments that have shaped our democracy – and learn the skills required to play your part in changing minds, shaping policy and fighting inequality.

English Language Requirement

Near East University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.
If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
