Welcome to the B.A (Hons) Communication

Majoring in Communication provides students with the opportunity to learn how to communicate effectively in relationships and public settings, explore the ways culture and gender shape communication, develop problem-solving and argumentation skills, and interrogate the ways ethics and visual communication shape our understandings. We provide the things that employers seek most. The B.A. in Communication provides essential skills. You will develop critical thinking and writing skills, and knowledge across: digital media, moving image, photography and podcasting. Work collaboratively on project briefs set by industry professionals, enabling you to engage in project management, pitching of ideas, and furthering your personal and professional development. The course covers a mix of media theory and creative practice ensuring that graduates are fully equipped to target careers in the media and communications industry. You will explore the benefits of the culture of connectivity for individuals, community and brands, and its implications for social and political life.

Career Path

Graduates of this course would be suited to pursue careers in marketing communications, branding consultancy, market research and consumer analysis, news media, TV production, or work as digital media practitioners and social media editors.

English Language Requirement

Southeast Missouri State University will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.

If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
