About

The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing prepares you to take the NCLEX-RN licensure exam to become a Registered Nurse (RN). or easily transfer to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program). Since the first RN cohort in 1971, Lane’s Nursing Program has a long-standing history of success. At Lane, we prepare students to provide safe nursing care for individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well, and in a variety of practice settings. The RN program requires approximately 2 years of prerequisite coursework (see below). Once admitted to RN program, students will complete 2 years (60 credits) of core nursing program courses including the promotion of health, prevention of illness, care of clients experiencing acute, unstable, and chronic conditions from birth through death. Our faculty value a diverse and inclusive teaching and learning environment. In our program, students will have face to face instruction, work in collaborative groups, rotate through a variety of clinical settings, and engage in community teaching projects. Throughout our program, emphasis is placed on the importance of respect for all persons, teamwork, evidence-based practice, social justice, self-reflection, and professional values. Our faculty value student success. In 2023, >90% of our students completed the program on time, and >94% passed the NCLEX RN on the first attempt. Following graduation and completion of the State board exam, Registered Nurses may be employed in a wide variety of settings including acute care and long-term care, home health, hospice, surgical centers, community health, and in schools and other occupational settings.
