Welcome to the Associate in Science Degree (Welding Technology)

Welding Technology is a career technical education program designed to prepare students for a variety of entrylevel positions in today’s welding and fabrication related industries. Course offerings range from very basic welding fundamentals to the most technically advanced. Students gain skillfulness in safety procedures, applied theory, metal fabrication, and related welding processes. Emphasis is placed on individual instruction. Instructors are AWS Certified Welding Inspectors/Educators.
This degree prepares students for entry-level employment in the field of Welding through the study of fabrication, metal transfer and the use of different shielding gases. Students will acquire skills in metallurgy, blueprint design and creation, multi-position metal transfer, well-joint design and application, and basic material science.
Welding curriculum is aligned with the American Welding Society SENSE Entry Welder Program. Students can earn welder certifications in accordance with the American Welding Society (AWS), The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS), and The American Society of Mechanical of Engineers (ASME).
Career Path
Upon successful completion of the program, students are prepared to enter into the following career opportunities: welder, welding inspector, welding technician/fitter, pipe fitter/welder, and metal fabricator.

English Language Requirement

College of the Canyons will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.
If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
