Welcome to the Associate Degree (Architectural Drafting & Technology)

The program provides students with entry-level skills and knowledge in the fields of computer and architectural drafting including techniques such as clarity, line weight expression and accuracy. Competencies include knowledge and skills for preparing CAD/BIM generated 2-D drawings and 3-D models, current practices in construction technology, and fundamental architectural design and space planning skills. Students should consult with the department chair and a counselor when planning to complete the degree for more information on university admissions and transfer requirements.
The two-year Architectural Drafting & Design Technology Associates Degree program prepares students as entry-level technicians in computer-assisted drafting (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) for residential and commercial construction. Students will work and learn in all areas of Architectural design and drafting. Instruction and hands-on learning include all phases of building design drafting, print reading, cost estimating, specifications writing, and sustainability concepts.
Career Path
Typical employers in the architectural career field are residential, commercial, and industrial contractors and land developers; architectural design firms, civil design firms, and structural engineering companies; modular and mobile home builders; facilities management companies; real estate developers; and government design agencies.

English Language Requirement

College of the Canyons will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.
If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
