In this field, you can work as a journey-level carpenter, general contractor, specialty trade contractor or independent contractor in light or heavy construction as well as many other related trades in the construction industry. Our program trains you on the technical skills and knowledge of the construction industry. You'll learn practical skills with experience instructors, like to cutting, fitting, and assembling wood and other materials for the construction of residential and commercial buildings and other structures. In this field you can work as a journey-level carpenter, general contractor, specialty trade contractor or independent contractor in light or heavy construction as well as many other related trades in the construction industry. You'll learn at off-campus site as well as the classroom, to get hands on with your learning. Instruction involves off-campus sites that may vary each term. Different projects are reviewed to fit the nature of work and desired skills you seek. After graduating, you'll be prepared to work in the residential and commercial building construction field, building homes and businesses to make our communities better. This in-demand career field has many employment opportunities. You could also become self-employed, as roughly one-fourth of construction workers are. English Language Requirement

Lane Community College will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
