About

The Bachelor of Arts in Community and Workforce Education is designed for students interested in non-licensure teaching and training, instructional design, and community and workforce program development careers. The 120-semester credit hour program is offered in a hybrid class format at UA’s main campus location through the LeBron James Family Foundation School of Education within the Buchtel College of the Arts and Sciences.Graduates with this degree will be able to pursue careers in both corporate and non-profit organizations with roles such as: Instructional Designers, Program Managers, Teaching & Learning Specialists, Workforce & Community Education Coordinators. This program reflects our dedication to supporting students who want to work in education but don’t necessarily see themselves as licensed classroom teachers. It provides a pathway for individuals passionate about education to thrive in roles such as workforce training, adult education and instructional design, meeting a growing demand for these skills. The program was developed in response to extensive market research and collaboration with key community and corporate partners. These stakeholders provided invaluable insights into the need for education professionals who can lead and innovate in non-traditional roles. Our partners confirmed that this program will help fill critical gaps in the workforce by preparing individuals for specialized roles in training and development.”

English Language Requirement

The University of Akron will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12-year education, or English is designated as the primary and official language and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit 

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
