Welcome to the Associate of Science Degree- Theater Costuming

The Theater Costuming Program provides students with an introduction to the costuming industry, including the many types of jobs available in this field, from designing to costume construction and show production. Students learn historic and theatrical styles, pattern making skills, tailoring and construction skills as well as design and illustration techniques to prepare them for a job in costuming. Students have the opportunity to work on actual productions through class work or internships. Communicate design concepts clearly and concisely (i.e. visual, oral, and written). Develop competitive industry standard skills in the respective fields. Understand the elements and principles of design through discipline-specific implementation.

Career Path

The theater provides many interesting part-time, free-lance and full-time jobs in costuming, including design, patternmaking, construction, dressing a production, managing a costume shop and costume rentals. Graduates of this program will be prepared to begin a career as costume technicians in any number of areas, as well as to continue their education in costume design at a four-year university.

English Language Requirement

Cañada College will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction. If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

1. English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
