Welcome to the Associate Degree English

The English AA Degree provides students with a wide variety of intellectual skills while introducing them to a major source of cultural enrichment. The major includes both creative writing and literature courses. The creative writing courses provide instruction in multiple genres. The literature courses offer a broad range of types and periods of literature.
Furthermore, students interested in making their own contributions to literature can work on creative endeavors with the staff’s talented and published authors. Students can also gain publishing experience by working on our award-winning literary magazine cul-de-sac. At the same time, majoring in English provides students with practical skills, such as clear written communication, close reading, and creative thinking which can serve students pursuing several different career paths.

Admission Requirements

English Language Requirement

College of the Canyons will accept, for the purposes of meeting the English proficiency requirement, English taken in 12 year education or English is designated as the primary and official language, and the principle language of instruction.
If you do not meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme with the university or submit  

  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) or PTE Score or Duolingo English Test score before you start your course.
